I mean, what is it with some people?
"A Christian lobby group has claimed the wearing of red poppies is "politically correct" and stifles debate."
Excuse my French, but go read any history of the First World War. Go and speak to a veteran, you absolute fuckwits.
And shame on you for tarnishing the name of millions of perfectly sensible Christians out there.

Don't hold back Ing, tell us what you really think ;~)
"...but Christianity seeks redemption through non-violence." This quote was interesting as i wonder how Christ put to death on a cross can be seen as non-violent.
Personally i wouldn't care if i wore a dried pea to symbolise the rememberance of such a significant event in hisory, as long as it was remembered and the cost of human life for our freedom today, appreciated.
Ing-I'm with you all the way. Beyond a joke. And then some.
Diane-re: Christ's crucifixation, you make a fantastic point. Probably one of the most horriffic forms of execution imaginable. But I think they'd see it that it wasn't Christians who killed Jesus, it was the Romans. That's how I read it, at least? But still, talk about irony!
It just infuriated me. If you wish to wear a white flower, do so, but why make the vast majority feel guilty in some way for wearing a symbolic red, commemorative flower of the fields in which a million fell?
I think some people have way too much time on their hands. The fact of the matter is that some of those soldiers weren't Christian or English and they still fought and died.
I understood that the most important thing about the red poppy is that it is worn to remember their sacrifice and to honour the soldiers who continue to fight and die today.
